My name is Kristīne Šķipsna, and I am a classical oil painter born in Latvia. In 2005, I graduated with a Master's degree in Painting from the Art Academy of Latvia. From an early age, I knew that painting would become my life's work, and for more than thirty years I have devoted myself to mastering the craft of realistic painting.

Today, I divide my life between Latvia and Germany, working and teaching in Latvian, English, and German. My paintings are held in private collections in Latvia, Germany, and Monaco, and I regularly participate in exhibitions in both Latvia and Germany.

Oil painting is the medium through which I express my deepest connection with the world. I work using classical painting principles, carefully building each work through observation, structure, light, colour, and craftsmanship. I use only professional-quality materials to ensure that every painting will retain its beauty for generations.

Alongside my personal artistic practice, I teach painting and share the knowledge I have developed through decades of study and experience. My goal is not only to teach techniques but also to help students learn to truly see—understanding form, light, colour, and the subtle relationships that bring a painting to life.

I also welcome commissioned work. Whether it is a portrait, still life, or another subject, I enjoy transforming personal ideas and meaningful moments into original oil paintings that will be treasured for years to come.

My greatest inspiration comes from quiet observation. A flower, an insect, changing light, or the expression in a person's eyes—these seemingly ordinary moments reveal extraordinary beauty when we take the time to truly look. Through my paintings, I hope to encourage others to pause, observe more closely, and rediscover the richness of the world around them.

For me, painting is not simply about reproducing reality. It is about revealing the harmony, beauty, and individuality that already exist in nature and in every human being.
