In this two-day oil painting workshop, we will work with the principles of Old Master layered painting techniques.
Day 1- On the first day, we create the drawing and monochrome underpainting, focusing on light, shadow, and tonal values.
Day 2 - On the second day, we build up the color with transparent glazes and discover how the interaction between underpainting and color creates luminosity, depth, and transparency.
At the end of the workshop, you will take home your own finished oil painting.
No previous painting experience is required.
How do you paint something so that it truly looks soft and tangible?
In this two-day oil painting workshop, we will learn how to convincingly depict form, volume, and different material surfaces. Using a teddy bear as our subject, we will explore how light and shadow create three-dimensional form and how soft fabric, subtle textures, and different materials can be distinguished through painting.
Day 1 – Drawing and Underpainting:
We establish the basic form of the teddy bear, refine the proportions, and develop a clear light-and-dark structure as the foundation for the painting.
Day 2 – Color Layers and Refinement:
Working over the prepared underpainting, we build up the color, develop the sense of material, depth, and soft transitions, and bring the teddy bear to life.

3-Day Oil Painting Workshop
Is snow really white?
In this three-day oil painting workshop, we explore one of the most fascinating challenges in landscape painting: how to paint a winter scene filled with light, atmosphere, and color.
We begin by learning how to compose a landscape – how to simplify nature, choose the main shapes, create depth, and guide the viewer’s eye through the painting. Using a clear block-in, we establish the large masses and value relationships before moving into details.
A special focus of the workshop is learning to see white. Snow is rarely simply white. It reflects the sky, the surrounding landscape, warm sunlight and cool shadows. We will explore how subtle shifts between warm and cool colors, together with carefully observed values, create the impression of luminous snow and atmospheric depth.
No previous painting experience is required.
